Julie is a native of Detroit Michigan and a graduate of Marygrove College with a Masters in Education. She taught 4th and 5th grade math in the Detroit school system for 35 years. After retiring, Julie said she slept for at least six months, and then she went to work in the wrapping department of The Sommerset Collection in Troy, Michigan for a year and a half until she was summoned to help her sister with her children.
Now, at age 73 Julie spends her free time making crafts of all kinds, and specializes in Christmas Ornaments and wreaths.
Julie is receiving Senior Meals on Wheels because she is no longer able to drive, and struggles with some health issues. She states that she appreciates Senior Meals On Wheels because it helps her to have the nutrition and energy she needs to enjoy her life, and continue to be a blessing to her family, that she is unable to provide for herself.
When asked what her best advice to her younger self would be Julie said this, “Tell the people you love, that you love them…because you never know when it will be the last opportunity that you will have.”
